Christmas 2010

I'm so excited to sing for big church tomorrow.. Christmas these last couple days has been great.. I got a few gift cards which will be nice to use later when I go back to school, and got to hang out with some awesome family.

Africa

So today in disabilities the head of the department came to tell us about an opportunity to go to Africa and I actually really really really want to go. It came out of no where and I've been debating since the end of last years trip if I'm going to be returning. I'm going to put my name in as interested tomorrow morning. It is $4,000 dollars for the trip plus summer tuition and it counts as 10 credits. My capstone 5 credits for my disabilities certificate and also 5 credits hopefully as an independent studies credit for CDEP. There is only room for 10 people to go, 5 boys 5 girls and then the department head will be with us as well as his wife. We will be staying in a three bedroom house (one for boys one for girls and one for teachers) with 2 bath, no air conditioning (80ish degrees plus in the 80s for humidity) electricity will be limited and there most likely wont be hot water. It will be at the end of August til the beginning of September about 3 weeks. Please pray for me and my possibly going to this trip.

first couple days!

This year I am a mentor in the resident halls, which means I assist two different CAs (RAs) in whatever they need doing. As a result I get a room to myself which I have found very nice so far. I still live on an Arts Living Learning Community and am enjoying myself there. I have an interview on tuesday for dining services and I'm not sure if I want the job anymore because I have a lot on my plate, but we'll see. We won our football game today and it was awesome. Yeah so life's great thus far, we will see how it goes when classes pick up as well :)

school soon approaching

So the big move in will be the 15th but it seems like almost everyone on my floor from last year will be moving in early. So I don't think I'll have much of a break when I'm moving into my room. As for now I'm just hanging out and packing and making door decorations for the residents. For the first time in a long time I am actually excited for school to start, I've had a long time at home again this year and I'm ready to get the school year started. That's my life update.. stay tuned.

CAMP 2010

Summer has started and staff training is over at Sound View, we have our first camp with just kiddos tomorrow and family camp ended today. This years staff is amazing and positive and I'm so excited to see what God is going to do with all of us. I'm doing well but hopefully my knee will be able to stand up to the challenge of camp terrain. That's all I have for right now, I hope everyone is doing well!

Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend I will be packing, working on group projects, and hopefully getting close to finishing Micaela's surprise scrapbook while she's on a rafting trip with EPIC. We just played an awesome game of spoons and I won! woohoo! Planning on being a counselor this summer at Sound View Camp once again and I'm so pumped for school to end for the year. Oh I'm also the LLC Mentor for next year so I get to help the freshmen transfer from home to college, should be fun. Hopefully in the week that I have between moving out of the dorms and moving into camp I will be able to get my drivers license cuz it's annoying not to have it, but who know if that will work because of timing and Tahoma still being in school.

DECLARED!

Today I declared my major so I am officially applied developmental psychology major (BS) with a special education minor!

Update

Well this has been fun.. I loved Mexico this year and it taught me a lot of valuable lessons that I don't think I've quite figured out yet. But catching up from Mexico has been the hardest thing ever.. my grades right now are terrible and I haven't had enough time to focus on anything so that doesn't help... every time I do focus I get major headaches and then don't want to be around people. But tomorrow I have a child/adolescent test that I can use notes for so hopefully that will go well. I'm so ready for summer and feel done with school for this year but it will all be worth it. Oh and i found out that APU has a masters program for educational counseling which would be awesome because then I could go to Mexico during my spring break, and not have to deal with catching up. blah okay time to get some sleep. I will tell more about Mexico some other time. Night!

Spring break

I finished up finals tuesday of last week and hung around til friday. Larissa's car died on the way back but it was okay because Sarah and I were trailing. We towed it to Wenachtee and then missed the exit to 18 on the way home. Not the best way to start off my break. Saturday I got pictures printed and ordered new glasses that will hopefully be ready before Mexico. Sunday i went to church and then went to adult bible study. Monday I helped work in mom's classroom with a spanish speaking girl and fileing papers. Tuesday I had pastries and coffee with Alison Markley and a fondue party with Kristin and Liv. Today, Wednesday I went to the dentist and then just hung around the house folding laundry, then youth group tonight. Tomorrow, I plan on sleeping in and then having coffee with steve then at night going to the rock and worship road show at the tacoma dome. Friday I will hang out at the high school and check out the senior product boards. Then, staurday it's back to school! The quarter starts on monday and I leave for Mexico Thursday at 3:00 right after my class.

update

hey I havn't been here for a while. So I'm resident of the week for however long they take to find someone to replace me. I'm staying in the dorms for next year and am planning to lock in Amanda and Kaitlin's room for next year because it's bigger. Today is super sunny and we had a walk out to stand for lower/the same tuition and teachers not being fired. I did awesome on my voice class mid-term and our teacher couldn't say anything bad about it at all which was good and made me happy because I was expecting her to critique something. I have had loads of homework all week and my back has been bothering me. I've been looking at prices for my Mexico flight and it looks like it will be a little over $300 roundtrip and through all of the support that I've gotten I'll be able to afford it but probably will have to ask for $20 from my parents. too bad their are no jobs available lately :( and ya that my update!

oh and on jan 1 Dad superglued his fingers together while fixing my computer we had to go to the store to get nail polish remover with acetone in it because we only had non-acetone. But he got the computer fixed so I am greatful.

back at school

Winter break lasted a long time but the activities picked up for the end of it Brian is at boot camp and I didn't get to see him before he left sadly but I intend to write him often. I got a new phone and a ton of movies and some mexico money for christmas which were all very nice. The Lee family has had another baby girl born on January 1st Eliana and I hope to visit them the next time I come back to the westside. This quarter I'll be taking History 105, English 201, Math 104, a voice class and swing dancing so that should keep me busy I tried to get the harder classes this quarter so I wont miss too much spring quarter when I ditch a week of school for Mexico mission. I'm currently trying to decide my major there are so many different psychology paths and I'm just trying to figure out which one I should go on. Well who knows maybe I wont end up in psychology when this is all over. Anyways thats the latest update!
